This role involves executing and improving Anthropic's Responsible Scaling Policy (RSP) by working with internal teams to manage AI development risks through technical and organizational protocols. The Program Manager will drive conversations, gather information, and collaborate with experts to ensure effective risk mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with internal experts on Safeguards, Security, Alignment, capability evaluations, and other relevant areas.
- Learn about ongoing questions and challenges faced by these teams and find the best balance between AI risk reduction and pragmatism.
- Gather information from across the company and assist in analyzing relevant risks.
- Help to drive conversations about ambitious but achievable plans to level up risk mitigations.
- Collaborate with the Policy team, advising on regulation relevant to Anthropic's Responsible Scaling Policy.
- Identify promising risk mitigations to be further developed and/or exported to the rest of the AI industry.
- Set and check in on forward-looking goals for improving risk mitigations.
- Monitor activity across the company to ensure alignment with the RSP.
- Partner with Security, Alignment, and Safeguards teams to develop practical and effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Propose RSP revisions to reflect new learnings.
Requirements
- Ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of major catastrophic risks potentially posed by advanced AI.
- Passion for reducing the harms and improving the benefits of AI and alignment with Anthropic's safety mission.
- Pragmatic problem-solver with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to write quickly and clearly, providing easy-to-understand reasoning.
- Flexible generalist excited to learn and adapt to a rapidly changing AI landscape.
- Highly organized with excellent project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, taking ownership, and proactively driving initiatives.
- Scrappy, hard-working, humble, collaborative, and a strong team player.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
