The Program Assistant supports the Saratoga Regional YMCA's mission by providing instruction and supervision for youth sports participants. This role ensures a safe and positive atmosphere while fostering skill development and community connection.
Responsibilities
- Lead and/or assist with the instruction and supervision of all practices
- Help develop participants' skills and promote their involvement in classes
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child and maintain a creative, playful atmosphere
- Maintain records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports)
- Organize and put away needed class equipment, reporting damaged items
- Convey information on youth programs and schedules, referring students and parents to other programs as appropriate
- Identify and celebrate successes of members and program participants, proactively communicating concerns
- Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and emergency procedures, completing incident and accident reports as necessary
- Know and review emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately
- Build effective, authentic relationships with members and program participants, helping them connect with each other and the Y
- Identify potential volunteers
Requirements
- Minimum age of 15 years old
- Ability to furnish working papers
- 1+ year of previous sports team participation experience
Qualifications
- 1+ year of previous sports team participation experience
Nice to Have
- Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications
