About This Role

The PRN Wound Care Nurse provides specialized care and consultation for patients with wounds, GI/GU system alterations, drains, pressure ulcers, and incontinence. This role serves as a resource and educator for healthcare professionals, patients, families, and the community, collaborating to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and interact with clients, families, visitors, physicians, and staff professionally
  • Remain current and responsive to changes in healthcare delivery and standards
  • Ensure patients and caregivers receive education about their condition, therapies, and dressings
  • Participate in processes to assess and improve services and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide comprehensive wound management including assessing causative factors, nutritional needs, and topical therapies for inpatients
  • Provide instruction on proper wound dressing
  • Assess and treat draining wounds and fistulae
  • Review and modify pouch system problems
  • Cross-train and support the outpatient wound care center as needed

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license
  • 3 years clinical nursing experience

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license
  • Three (3) years clinical experience in Nursing; One (1) year of experience as a certified wound care nurse preferred

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) Certification
  • 1 year of experience as a certified wound care nurse

Certifications

Basic Life Support (Required) Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) (preferred) (Required)
