Provide on-call nursing coverage for a non-profit organization in school and residential settings. This role offers flexible hours for direct care, health assessments, and medication administration to residents and students.
Responsibilities
- Provide health assessment of each child for general health maintenance, evaluation of illness and injury, and follow up care
- Administer medications and treatment as prescribed by the attending physician
- Communicate with outside referral sources, providers, parents/guardians, and insurance companies
- Document illnesses, injuries, and other nursing related issues accurately
- Obtain lab specimens as needed
- Administer immunizations and TB testing of children
- Administer and read tuberculosis testing of staff, if required
- Participate on Treatment Teams of children
- Conduct medical assessments on children in therapeutic hold, as indicated
- Collect Health Office data and generate reports as requested
- Monitor resident and student’s BMI, heights, weights, and vital signs monthly
- Transcribe orders, maintain supplies, and administer medications and procedures, documenting accordingly
- Complete admissions screenings and document accordingly
- Triage, schedule, and assist with doctor examinations as necessary
- Assist with the training of staff in medication management, CPR, and first aid
- Participate in team meetings
- Attend trainings and meetings as required
- Share/transmit the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff, clients, and families served
- Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, Arrow policy, and COA standards
- May be required to drive ACFM vehicles and complete Arrow’s vehicle training
Requirements
- Current MD Board of Nursing license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- 2+ years of experience, preferably in a residential setting or a special education setting including students with Autism
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience, preferably in a residential setting or a special education setting including students with Autism
