Press Brake Operator II

About This Role

Set up and operate metal bending machines (Press Brake) to produce parts in accordance with quality and quantity standards, performing dimensional inspections and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform all dimensional inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and steel ruler to ensure production output meets requirements
• Perform routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all tools and equipment utilized
• Select and set-up tools, equipment and machines required for quality productions based on specifications
• Review machine tooling requirements and plan set-up/operations to optimize flow of work
• Understand the effects of the forming process in downstream operations
• Make machine/tooling adjustments to bring non-conforming output into specifications
• Understand deflection of material and spring back along the piece
• Learn to adjust and control RAM speeds on the press for bending parts
• Understand different types of bending and how materials react to forming
• Set-up tooling needed and make new programs on the machine
• Achieve and maintain any certifications required in the work area
• Work completely independent without supervision, producing quality work at standard efficiency

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, memos, and simple instructions
• Knowledge of basic business math functions
• Understanding of material properties like thickness, bends, and tolerances
• Full understanding of compound tolerances

Qualifications

• High School diploma.
• 2+ years related experience preferred

Nice to Have

• 2+ years related experience
• Knowledge of adding shims (.010, .020)
• Knowledge of different I-axis blocks
• Understanding of tooling for hemming or offsets
• Understanding of V-opening in dies vs. material thickness
