About This Role

Assess, plan, and implement rehabilitative programs to restore physical function and prevent dysfunction in patients. This role also involves acting as a clinical and administrative resource for the department.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients using appropriate testing methods and instrumentation, recording and interpreting findings to identify patient needs
  • Formulate detailed assessments based on examination findings
  • Develop functional, time-based, and measurable treatment plans and patient outcomes with input from patients, families, and other health professionals
  • Safely and effectively implement treatment interventions, applying sound clinical judgment and skill
  • Provide patient and family education during therapy and in preparation for discharge
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of patient status and revise treatment interventions, goals, and outcomes as appropriate
  • Initiate discharge planning by incorporating patient/family input and participating in multidisciplinary patient care planning
  • Maintain all medical record documentation thoroughly and accurately according to department policy and procedures
  • Meet department standards for productivity and delegate tasks to support staff when appropriate
  • Attend internal and external educational programs and read professional journals to enhance Physical Therapy skills and clinical outcomes

Requirements

  • BS Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • Active MA Physical Therapy license
  • American Heart Association – Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • A minimum of two years as a licensed physical therapist with professional, clinical experience in a physical therapy setting
  • Knowledge of Physical Therapy theory and practice
  • Ability to observe, assess and record objective findings, symptoms, reactions and progress
  • Skills in critical judgement and thinking
  • Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses, and/or proposed treatment
  • Knowledge of Physical Therapy services, facilities and equipment
  • Ability to assess individual patient needs
  • Skill in maintaining patient medical record
  • Knowledge of range of therapy methods and techniques
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards
  • Ability to use independent judgement and to manage and impart confidential information
  • Ability to provide leadership and mentorship

Qualifications

  • BS Physical Therapy from an accredited program
