Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with physical injuries or illnesses to improve their mobility, manage pain, and maximize functional independence within an outpatient orthopedic setting. This role involves developing and executing individualized treatment plans and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' strengths and weaknesses to devise creative and effective treatment plans
- Examine patients using fundamental clinical knowledge and implement treatment plans
- Collect and record patient care data, adhering to guidelines for regulatory agencies and third-party payers
- Prepare for evaluations by obtaining patient history and researching unfamiliar diagnoses
- Select and administer tests and measures, synthesizing results to formulate diagnosis, goals, prognosis, and plan of care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, patients and their support system, and assess need for modifications to the plan of care
- Identify need for consultations or refer patients to other healthcare professionals/services, and initiate/complete discharge plans
- Provide education and training to patients and/or their support system, including ADLs/IADLs, therapeutic activities, and equipment prescription
- Provide musculoskeletal interventions such as therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization, and modalities
- Oversee support staff including PTAs, ATCs, and PT aides
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state practicing in
- Completed state regulated CEU requirement in appropriate state (NY, NJ)
- Valid CPR License
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Strong clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent work ethic and dedication to patient success
- Basic computer skills
- Works as a team member and individually with minimal supervision
- Maintains a positive, professional demeanor at all times
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree required, Doctorate degree preferred
