Educate consumers on how to confidently manage their Personal Care Attendant Program, provide training to individuals with disabilities, and assist with skills training department tasks within a non-profit organization focused on independent living.
Responsibilities
- Follow-up on assigned functional skills training in a timely manner as determined by contract
- Assess consumers and/or surrogate ability to manage PCA services
- Train consumers and/or surrogates the skills needed to manage their PCA program as outlined in the Mass Health Service Agreement and according to the Personal Care Management (PCM) Contract
- Maintain confidentiality in all consumer related issues
- Attend in-service, supervision and staff development meetings when requested by Supervisor or Manager
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of program policies and procedures and Mass Health regulations
- Report all suspected incidents of consumer sexual/physical abuse and neglect to the Disabled Person Protection Commission (DPPC)
- Work within company policies and the PCM Contract to complete and track required documentation within timelines
- Complete and submit internal requirements including Progress Notes, Dayforce, Outlook Schedule, Mileage and Expense Forms
- Return all phone calls from surrogates and consumers within 72 business hours and emails within 48 business hours
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable vehicle for travel
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office/Outlook
- Ability to navigate databases
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; GED or High School Diploma required
Nice to Have
- Experience providing services for people with disabilities and knowledge of PCA programs
- Experience or education in teaching or counseling
- Knowledge of community resources and social service systems
- Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills
- Bilingual English preferred in any languages
- Bachelor's Degree
