Payroll Analyst

About This Role

This long-term contract position involves overseeing payroll operations for a large workforce, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulations, with a focus on heavy processing, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 21,000 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Utilize Workday and SmartCompliance systems to manage payroll tax tasks, including audits, reconciliations, and performance analysis
• Conduct tax audits, ensure timely tax deposits and filings, and resolve tax notifications efficiently
• Analyze and address complex payroll and tax issues, providing sustainable solutions and implementing process improvements
• Partner with service providers to manage tax filings, reconcile invoices, and ensure compliance with regulations
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, offering guidance and actionable recommendations to improve payroll processes
• Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, providing guidance on implementation and ensuring compliance across payroll functions
• Lead process improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of efficient payroll and tax workflows
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across the organization
• Participate in cross-training opportunities to support departmental functions and enhance team capabilities

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in payroll management
• Expertise in full-cycle payroll processes
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax regulations
• Proficiency in Workday Payroll and SmartCompliance systems
• Demonstrated experience managing payroll for large-scale operations, including over 10,000 employees
• Skilled in payroll tax reporting, reconciliation, and garnishments
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex payroll and tax issues
• Excellent analytical and communication skills

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in payroll management, with expertise in full-cycle payroll processes and managing payroll for large-scale operations (over 10,000 employees)
