About This Role

The Payment Network Program Manager will join the Product & Strategy team at Square Financial Services (SFS), Block's bank, to expand acquiring capabilities including BIN sponsorship and other payment network initiatives. This role involves building and scaling the acquiring BIN sponsorship program, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance, adherence to card network requirements, and effective risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage acquiring project plans and implementation timelines for both Square and Cash App business initiatives
  • Prepare, lead, and coordinate responses to payment network investigations, audits, and compliance reviews
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert (SME) on payment card network requirements, acting as a liaison between the networks and Square Financial Services (SFS)
  • Monitor, interpret, and operationalize payment network rule changes and regulatory guidance
  • Coordinate network escalations to resolve compliance, risk, and operational issues
  • Maintain, consolidate, and manage payment network documentation, including approvals, waivers, and formal network communications, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness
  • Develop and maintain dashboards that consolidate operational, risk, and compliance metrics
  • Update and maintain policies, procedures, and guidance, including tracking revisions and version control
  • Assist with ongoing oversight responsibilities, including risk assessments and issue management

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in payments, merchant acquiring or financial services, or a related regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of payment network rules, banking regulations, and compliance or risk management requirements
  • Experience leading complex programs or initiatives end-to-end, including defining scope, managing timelines, and reporting on progress and outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience translating complex requirements into clear, actionable guidance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining a high bar for quality and accuracy
