About This Role

This entry-level Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT) position provides basic patient care and assists patients with daily activities under the direction of nursing and medical staff. The role focuses on observing patient progress, recording vital signs, and collecting specimens to enhance patient care in an acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff
• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs
• Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff
• Obtain and record patients' vital signs
• Collect specimens for lab tests
• Provide basic patient transport
• Perform housekeeping duties

Requirements

• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer and prior to providing direct patient care

Qualifications

• High School or GED
• Entry-level position; 1 year of experience in acute or long-term care preferred
