Part-Time TEM Analyst II

About This Role

This role involves preparing and analyzing samples with accuracy and precision using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) equipment, ensuring all tasks adhere to SGS's analytical SOPs. The analyst will meet daily production targets and maintain a safe working environment within the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare and analyze samples according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments/equipment
• Prepare samples for Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis, including sectioning, carbon coating, and proper labeling
• Operate TEM equipment to capture high-resolution images and perform structural and compositional analysis
• Conduct routine instrument calibrations and perform basic maintenance to maintain accuracy and reliability
• Enter sample data, analysis data, and prepare reports on LIMS system
• Input and maintain technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations
• Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Chemistry or similar scientific discipline
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories
• Advanced English language skills
• Strong mathematical and reasoning skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Chemistry or similar scientific discipline
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories
