This Paraeducator Level I/Lunch Hour Aide Combo position supports students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) in Special Education settings, facilitating their mastery of grade-level curriculum. The role involves instructional and classroom management supports, as well as clerical tasks for teachers and staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform various tasks to promote student learning and well-being for students with IEPs at the direction of the principal
- Facilitate student mastery of grade-level curriculum or Alternate Academic Achievement Standards
- Provide instructional and classroom management supports
- Perform related clerical tasks to support teachers and other professional staff
- Assist with implementation of the instructional program
- Participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior
- Continue planned instructional activities during teacher's temporary absence from the classroom
Requirements
- Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and practices applicable to assignment
- Ability to assist with implementation of instructional program
- Ability to participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior
- Ability to work effectively with children, young adults, and staff members
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform all required tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read/write/speak English
- Ability to interact with and support students with special needs
- Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software such as Google Workspace, MS Office and web-based instructional tools
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree, or 48 college credits, or successful completion of ParaPro Assessment with a qualifying score of 455 or higher, or combination of applicable education and experience
- 1 year of experience working with students in structured educational (or academic) situations preferred; if no related coursework, then 2-4 years of experience working with children and adolescents in structured settings required; or 2 years in a structured setting with ParaPro Assessment
