Operators – Gas Distribution

About This Role

Safely operate heavy equipment around overhead and underground utilities for gas distribution infrastructure projects in the Kansas City, MO area. This role involves assessing work areas, maneuvering equipment, and performing minor repairs to maintain America's infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor
• Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks
• Maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way
• Estimate depth of cut by feel and engine stalling action
• Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs on equipment
• Maintain all appropriate maintenance records
• Assess the area to determine if utilities were properly located
• Review the terrain to determine the best method to perform the job

Requirements

• Prior heavy equipment operating experience
• Experience digging around natural gas lines
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of underground utilities
• Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer’s operator qualifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior heavy equipment operating experience, experience digging around natural gas lines

Nice to Have

• Class A CDL with tanker endorsements
