Provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to children aged birth to three, including assessment, treatment, program planning, and implementation. Work under physician's orders and with families to improve child development.
Responsibilities
- Provide and direct occupational therapy services to children aged birth to three
- Perform annual and six-month evaluations and plan reviews to determine continued intervention needs and update the IFSP
- Produce discharge reports in advance of age-out or as required at discharge from caseload
- Interpret and communicate evaluation findings to parents and other treatment team members
- Establish treatment schedule and provide frequency of services as determined by the IFSP
- Communicate and document changes to IFSP as needed
- Participate in co-treatment or IFSP consultation with other treatment team members to ensure coordination of patient care
- Develop appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance the development of the child
- Document results of the child’s assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services
- Adapt treatment plans to meet the individual needs of the child
- Provide, recommend, and fabricate adaptive devices or other equipment and train parents and caregivers in their use
- Supervise students and provide mentorship, as needed
- Review the quality and appropriateness of services delivered and individual occupational therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency
- Participate in family and caregiver education to discuss the client’s progress and strategies for continued support
- Attend pediatric team meetings as required
- Consistently demonstrate sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation and follow-up of resident therapy programs
- Communicate with management regarding caseload status and capacity for new referrals
- Provide timely services according to frequency determined by each child’s IFSP
