Occupational Therapist

About This Role

Implement therapeutic prescriptions for patients with concussion, vestibular disorders, and other complex neurological syndromes, providing direct patient interaction and overseeing therapy-aide staff. Conduct independent functional evaluations and assist in developing therapy plans.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and their families throughout all phases of intervention: initial contact, consultation, examination, report of findings, therapy and conclusion of care
• Assist the Clinical Director during exams and make independent functional evaluations
• Produce patient reports of the findings from evaluations
• Assist in the development of a therapy plan checklist for each patient
• Perform prescribed treatment with consideration for the patient’s ability and endurance
• Modify a patient’s plan and/or bring concerns to the attention of the Clinical Director as progress is made
• Follow-up with current or prospective patients as the situation demands
• Complete paperwork required for billing and clinical purposes
• Comply with all state and federal laws governing the provision of services
• Prepare and lightly clean the therapy area; assist with marketing efforts; assist administrative staff with clinically-related questions; participate in staff meetings and regular training

Requirements

• Licensure to perform Occupational Therapy in the state of Maryland
• Professional interest in neurological rehabilitation, especially vestibular, oculomotor, and sensory-motor techniques
• Willingness and ability to be trained
• Team-oriented approach to patient care
• Organizational skills
• Communication skills
• Advanced clinical skill in observation
