About This Role

Implement treatment programs for pediatric patients with physical, cognitive, sensory, and social/emotional disabilities by providing occupational therapy in home and community settings. Assist patients in improving their level of independence through skilled interventions and empower caregivers with therapeutic activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality care and meet the needs of the patient and family by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results.
  • Develop goals appropriate for the child and create and implement occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician.
  • Assist pediatric and young adult patients in the areas of physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADL’s, and social/emotional development.
  • Improve patients' level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child.
  • Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
  • Coordinate with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with the physician order.
  • Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • State Occupational Therapist license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to implement treatment programs for pediatric patients
  • Experience with physical, cognitive, sensory, and social/emotional disabilities/delays

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
