This Occupational Health Nurse will treat on-site injuries, provide medical surveillance and case management for employees, and train staff in first aid and safety protocols. The role involves frequent travel between central Indiana facilities to support employee health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Treat on-site injuries and refer to outside medical care as needed
- Travel to metals recycling locations to provide care, training, and wellness initiatives
- Case manage injured workers and facilitate return to work
- Provide medical surveillance for all employees, including audiograms, spirometry, vision screening, and lead testing
- Conduct new hire pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and coordinate medical examinations
- Participate in ergonomics assessments and job hazard analyses
- Administer the Drug and Alcohol program according to company policy
- Train employees in First Aid and CPR/AED as medical responders
- Train employees on Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Violence in the workplace, Ergonomics, and Heat Stress
- Advise on Workers’ Compensation claims and FMLA Administration
- Maintain HIPAA compliant documentation
- Drive increased health outcomes and reduce population health risks
- Conduct and offer wellness/biometrics screening/health fairs
Requirements
- Active RN license in state of practice
- 2 or more years hospital or clinic nursing experience
- Excellent assessment skills in a clinical setting
- Phlebotomy
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Willingness to travel to Corporate meetings, trainings, and conferences
Qualifications
- 2+ years hospital or clinic nursing experience
Nice to Have
- 3 or more years of experience in occupational nursing or emergency nursing and/or clinic experience
- 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or occupational environment
- Working knowledge of regulatory areas (ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation)
- CPR/AED Instructor
- Health coaching/certification
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse
