Nursing Care Technician

About This Role

Provide direct patient care and support to Registered Nurses, focusing on prompt, compassionate, and patient-centered care in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and perform phlebotomy
• Document patient information
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL's)
• Order and stock supplies
• Respond to patient call lights
• Assist with unit orientation, patient admission, transfer, and discharge
• Move patients from bed to wheelchair or stretcher
• Handle specimens and deliver to labs
• Prepare patients for surgical procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One or more of the following: KY SRNA, EMT, RN nursing student (completed fundamental course and clinical), Military Medic, current LPN license, acquired NCT competencies through continuous employment at UK, or successful completion of Earn While You Learn NCT Training Program within 8 weeks of hire
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider (valid at time of hire or completed during training program)
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time
• Compassionate, honest, trustworthy, strong work ethic
• Team player, but also able to communicate effectively and take direction independently
• Confident and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of CPR and basic concept of abnormal vital sign parameters
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and basic computer navigation skills
• Working knowledge of the Internet
