About This Role

This role delivers direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, assisting with activities of daily living and performing various patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care
• Perform and/or assist with patient care needs as directed and assists patient with activities of daily living
• Respond to call lights, inquiries and requests from patients and families in a timely manner
• Collect, document and report ongoing patient care data as directed
• Measure and/or document intake and output, including drainage and obtains daily weights when indicated
• Obtain individual patient care equipment as directed
• Transport patients as directed
• Perform various medical skills such as obtaining vital signs, applying heating pads, setting up suction equipment, and performing blood glucose testing
• Make regular rounds to address patient needs and physical environment
• Communicate pertinent information of actual/potential problems to the professional/practical nurse

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Sound judgment, problem solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to follow directions from other team members; works independently assigned duties
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program
• PA Act 153 Clearance

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED

Nice to Have

• Nurse Aide certification
• Computer skills
• Phlebotomy experience
• EKG experience
• Current Nursing Student (with clinical experience)
