About This Role

This Nursing Assistant role provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse within the Emergency Department at Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital. The incumbent will primarily serve as a patient sitter when needed, while also performing general nursing assistant duties to support patient care and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs
  • Provide routine treatments and maintain a safe, clean, neat, and organized patient environment
  • Maintain safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Assure patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality
  • Follow standard precautions and wash hands between patients
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients
  • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rates, food and fluid intake and output as directed
  • Obtain data and accurately document pertinent patient information according to Orlando Health policies and guidelines
  • Recognize and communicate appropriate information and safety concerns regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and/or other members of the healthcare team
  • Participate in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding of patients

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain BLS/Healthcare Provider certification within 30 days of hire
