About This Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops care plans, and evaluates patient responses within the healthcare team. This role ensures patients transition through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care delivery by the healthcare team using the Parkland nursing professional practice model
  • Assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses
  • Utilize knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients in transitioning through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays
  • Delegate interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, patient conditions, and employee competencies
  • Serve as a patient advocate, focusing on patient needs, rights, confidentiality, and religious and cultural preferences
  • Maintain and implement knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines impacting nursing practice, ensuring compliance for the hospital and Parkland
  • Complete appropriate and timely documentation in patient care records and hospital documents, meeting department and Parkland standards
  • Identify ways to improve work processes and patient/customer satisfaction, making recommendations and monitoring results
  • Stay abreast of latest developments in nursing practice through seminars, journals, and professional organizations

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or valid Compact RN license
  • Current healthcare provider CPR course completion card (certification cannot expire within 3 months of start date)
  • Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor's in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred (must graduate by May 2026)
  • For residency, no RN experience needed; for fellowship, at least 1 year of RN experience.

Certifications

Current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network (cannot expire within 3 months of start date) (Required)
