Ensure the continuous, safe operation of production machinery (pellet mills, conveyors, and mixers) in a feed mill environment by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This hands-on role involves welding, hydraulic/pneumatic system repair, and electrical troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and perform routine inspections, lubrication, and adjustments on machinery like bucket elevators, drag conveyors, boilers, and hammer mills
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, repairing or replacing parts promptly to minimize downtime
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair structures and equipment
- Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area
- Maintain detailed, written reports of all maintenance work, repairs, and parts usage
- Assist with, or fill in for, operator duties as needed
- Identify and suggest improvements to processes and equipment for better efficiency
- Perform general maintenance on the Feed Mill building and grounds
Requirements
- Proficiency in industrial mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and gearboxes
- Ability to troubleshoot 110v, 220v, and 480v systems, as well as VFD drives and control circuits
- Capacity to lift up to 60–75 lbs
- Ability to work at heights of up to 120 feet via ladders or man-lifts
- Strict adherence to safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and confined space entry procedures
- Basic mechanical abilities
- Good work history and attendance record
- Good history of safe work practices
- Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and be on call for plant emergencies
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; technical school training or 1–5 years of industrial maintenance experience is often preferred
