About This Role

This position serves as a consultant, clinician, licensed independent practitioner, and educator within the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, leveraging clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge in neonatal care. The role involves assessing patients, coordinating treatment, and educating staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan and prioritize clinical care needs for all patients in the NICU
  • Demonstrate ability to perform clinical privileges as defined on University of Utah Health Hospital and Clinics Neonatal Nurse Practitioner clinical privileges application
  • Coordinate and evaluate the clinical treatment of patients with attending neonatologist on a daily basis
  • Collaborate and make referrals to consulting medical services to provide treatment for patients in NICU
  • Function as a resource and preceptor for nurse practitioner students in training
  • Function as a resource and consultant for residents and neonatology fellows during their NICU rotations
  • Provide antenatal consultation and education to families in labor and delivery that will require NICU services
  • Provide clinical summary and review of patient medical history to referring community providers upon discharge

Requirements

  • Current APRN and Controlled Substance licenses in the State of Utah
  • Current National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) instructor or provider status
  • Current DEA license with a Utah practice address

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with emphasis in neonatal practitioner/clinical specialty or equivalency
  • Entry level position, equivalency for education is one year of education for two years of related work experience

Certifications

Current National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (Required) Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) instructor or provider status (Required)
