About This Role

The Cardiology Nurse will provide excellent care to pediatric patients with an interest in cardiology within the Pediatric Cardiology Division at the University of Utah School of Medicine. This role coordinates care for patients in general cardiology clinics, working with world-class professionals to develop skills and grow their career.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain MD orders/testing and coordinate clinic appointments and appropriate testing.
  • Coordinate with social work on patient/family needs for out-of-town patients.
  • Follow-up on studies and obtain results.
  • Aid in sub-specialist referral.
  • Address patient concerns/questions received via electronic message or phone message.
  • Follow-up on patient lab work if applicable.
  • Call in patient prescriptions/renewals.
  • Follow-up with patients by telephone after missed clinic appointments.
  • Direct preauthorization requests for medication to the appropriate team.
  • Help to standardize written protocols.
  • Update/maintain patient database.
  • Update/maintain brochures/website.
  • Maintain list of referred patients.

Requirements

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential (within 30 days of hire)
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah (or obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in pediatrics and/or cardiovascular medicine.
  • Self-starter with exceptional organizational skills, ability to function independently, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and ability to learn new software programs.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
