Music Instructor

About This Role

Instruct students in music-related activities, focusing on intellectual growth within the classroom and the broader college community, and developing and evaluating curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and instruct coursework
• Work with the Department Chairperson/Program Director to develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum
• Maintain updated syllabi, outcomes, and gradebooks in the College learning management system (LMS)
• Select textbooks and teaching materials in collaboration with colleagues
• Instruct students using interactive techniques including lecture, demonstration, clinical or lab supervision
• Instruct students using a variety of delivery modes, including face-to-face, hybrid, virtual or online
• Provide academic and career counseling to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences
• Design and administer evaluations for grade determination each semester
• Develop and deliver online courses that meet Quality Matters guidelines
• Engage in appropriate professional development to remain current in discipline and teaching techniques

Requirements

• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Music
• Teaching experience
• Conducting experience

Qualifications

• Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Music
• Teaching experience required. Conducting experience required.

Nice to Have

• Experience using a learning management system (LMS) such as Canvas and/or Blackboard
• Experience teaching online courses
• Experience using Microsoft Office
• Teaching at a secondary level
• Choral experience at the post-secondary level
