About This Role

This Milieu Therapist role delivers evidence-based therapeutic care, facilitating skills and psychotherapy groups, and providing essential milieu support to patients across various levels of mental health care. The position focuses on helping patients with eating disorders and mood, anxiety, and trauma-related conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate skills groups and psychotherapy groups based on core curriculum
  • Provide meal monitoring and meal support to patients
  • Offer milieu support, de-escalation, and behavior coaching
  • Document groups, meals, patient check-ins, and observations
  • Conduct self-harm and suicide assessments
  • Support morning routines in inpatient/residential programs
  • Collect and report weights, vitals, and urine in some settings
  • Implement individual behavior management plans for patients
  • Serve as clinical lead for the program in standalone programs during evenings and weekends
  • Provide coverage for Primary Therapists for individual, family, and group therapies, as well as patient assessments

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in mental health or related degree program
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Intern or associate license from appropriate state licensing board
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic principles and techniques
  • Ability to manage group dynamics effectively
  • Proficient in keeping timely, detailed and accurate records
  • Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in mental health or related degree program; Bachelor's degree
  • Entry level with a preference for 1+ year experience in group-based treatment interventions, crisis management, and safety assessments.

Nice to Have

  • 1+ year facilitating group-based treatment interventions
  • 1+ year providing crisis management support and interventions
  • 1+ year performing safety assessments and implementing safety management plans to patients in treatment at higher levels of care
