The Metal Prep Technician prepares manufactured parts through deburring, heat treating, cleaning, and coating processes to ensure high-quality finishes, playing a crucial role in the production workflow.
Responsibilities
- Inspect parts for imperfections such as dings, dents, scratches, and weld flaws before and after completion
- Perform deburring, sand blasting, and other pre-treatment processes to ensure proper adhesion and finish
- Maintain equipment and regularly inspect machines for leaks or obvious wear and tear
- Conduct regular upkeep of the department, clean up regularly, and follow 5S guidelines
- Identify and troubleshoot Metal Prep related issues, evaluate solutions, and implement corrective actions
- Use process control measurements and collected data to ensure process effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
- Follow all SilencerCo safety standards and procedures, including handling of chemicals and PPE requirements
- Assist in other metal preparation duties and finishing processes as needed
Requirements
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, part prints, process documentation, and work center guidelines
- Ability to pass a background check
