Metal Prep Technician

About This Role

The Metal Prep Technician prepares manufactured parts through deburring, heat treating, cleaning, and coating processes to ensure high-quality finishes, playing a crucial role in the production workflow.

Responsibilities

• Inspect parts for imperfections such as dings, dents, scratches, and weld flaws before and after completion
• Perform deburring, sand blasting, and other pre-treatment processes to ensure proper adhesion and finish
• Maintain equipment and regularly inspect machines for leaks or obvious wear and tear
• Conduct regular upkeep of the department, clean up regularly, and follow 5S guidelines
• Identify and troubleshoot Metal Prep related issues, evaluate solutions, and implement corrective actions
• Use process control measurements and collected data to ensure process effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
• Follow all SilencerCo safety standards and procedures, including handling of chemicals and PPE requirements
• Assist in other metal preparation duties and finishing processes as needed

Requirements

• Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, part prints, process documentation, and work center guidelines
• Ability to pass a background check
