Mental Health Specialist

About This Role

Provide professional mental health services for pediatric patients and families, conducting diagnostic clinical interviews, developing treatment plans, and offering crisis/supportive counseling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological diagnostic clinical interviews (DCI) under provisional supervision
• Complete DCI documentation, including differential diagnosis and treatment plans
• Complete and document crisis assessment plans
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand patient/family mental health needs
• Document all clinical services, formulate patient goals, and monitor care plan progression
• Provide appropriate patient education and communicate psychological assessment with the care team
• Assess high-risk individuals and families, providing intervention focused on safety and mental health
• Provide crisis/supportive counseling and coaching to patients/families under provisional supervision
• Assist families with problem-solving, adjustment to illness, and management of comorbid mental/physical health
• Facilitate support groups and provide referrals for patient and family care navigation

Requirements

• Master's Degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related mental health field
• Current Provisional Mental Health Practitioner or Mental Health Practitioner in Nebraska
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification
• Non-Violent Intervention training within 30 Days
• Knowledge of human behavior, social problems, counseling modalities, and community resources

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling or related mental health field
• 1-3 years experience of providing supervised mental health services in a health care or mental health facility, with preferred experience in behavioral health services with children, adolescents, and families.
