Medical Lab Technician

About This Role

Perform laboratory analyses, including blood draws, specimen collection, and quality control testing, to support patient care within a clinical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Work in the lab running machines and performing blood draws
• Obtain and collect specimens for laboratory testing, including blood and urine
• Check test requisitions for correctness and completeness, verifying patient identification
• Perform venipunctures and fingersticks using aseptic technique and according to procedures
• Prepare specimens and perform laboratory analyses and quality control testing
• Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and document all checks and actions
• Perform clerical tasks: completing requisitions, preparing reports, and inputting data
• Maintain awareness of own safety, adhere to universal precautions and infection control
• Maintain patient confidentiality and use discretion in patient interactions

Requirements

• Lab experience
• ASCP certification or AAMA certification
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with CLIA compliance
