About This Role

The Medical Director will lead the NYU Student Health Center, overseeing the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to students and ensuring adherence to clinical care standards, operational efficiency, and innovation. This role involves managing various medical departments and contributing to strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to NYU students
  • Lead the Student Health Center, ensuring adherence to clinical care standards, operational efficiency, and innovation
  • Serve as the lead physician for the SHC in matters of accreditation, credentialing, and licensing
  • Manage staff in Primary Care, Urgent Care, Medical Specialties, GYN Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Optometry, and Administrative Support departments
  • Design and execute strong policies and protocols, implement and monitor evidence-based clinical practices
  • Mitigate risks by overseeing a robust program of risk management and quality improvement
  • Set the strategic direction for physical health services, ensuring alignment with NYU's mission and values
  • Lead the team to deliver exceptional healthcare services, developing talent, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the university and external healthcare organizations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards while maintaining high patient care

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (M.D.) or D.O. from AAMC member medical school
  • Board Certified by American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine
  • Has or is eligible to obtain Physician license from New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions before appointment
  • Has or is eligible to obtain U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration registration before appointment
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible management experience in a multi-specialty ambulatory health care organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and constituencies at all levels of the SHC and University organizations
  • Knowledge of the goals and objectives of ambulatory care and its relationship to both primary prevention and tertiary/quaternary interventions

Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor (M.D.) or D.O. from AAMC member medical school
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible management experience in a multi-specialty ambulatory health care organization

Nice to Have

  • Leadership experience in a large, sophisticated college or university health center
  • Clinical experience with adolescent and young adult populations
  • Exposure to urgent care, preventive medicine, global health, and public health
  • Advanced Life Support Certification
  • Advanced certification in clinical areas of interest
  • Broad knowledge of public health and health-related emergency response with emphasis on the control and prevention of communicable diseases
