Process patient health information using a proprietary electronic medical record system, review examination documentation, test results, and conduct phone interviews with Service Members and Veterans to provide clear and comprehensive final products.
Responsibilities
- Navigate and work within proprietary electronic medical record system to evaluate and process patient health information
- Determine outcomes for various types of medical and specialty exams
- Conduct a review of examination documentation, test results, and assessments
- Corroborate information via phone interview with Service Members and Veterans
- Provide clear, comprehensive, and concise final products
- Collaborate with providers, Veterans, and Service Members via call line to ensure examination meets regulatory and contractual requirements
- Identify emergent behavioral health issues and initiate intervention when necessary
- Document test results
- Educate and support providers, Veterans, and Service Members with navigating medical history information for disability claims
- Interface via telephone (approximately 50%) and e-mail with contracted providers, Veterans, and Service Members in retrieval of required Disability Benefits Questionnaire information
Requirements
- Vocational or Technical Training/Education in a Medical related field or equivalent
- Ability to type 40 words per minute
- Knowledge of healthcare documentation including medical, behavioral, and psychological terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of technical writing
- Ability to identify lab results and ancillary services
- Experience using a computer and Microsoft Office - Microsoft Word
- Ability to interpret medical documentation
- Experience working in an Electronic Medical Record system
- Ability to work MTWRF 8:00am to 5:00pm CT OR 10:00am-7:00pm CT
- Distraction-free, dedicated space in home for home office
- Access to high-speed internet (cable, fiber optic)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to pass a Public Trust Background Check & Drug Screening
Qualifications
- Vocational or Technical Training/Education in a Medical related field such as Medical Assistant, LPN, Health Information Technology (HIT), EMT, Medic, Corpsman, or completion of the following 4 courses: Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Human Body Systems, and Common Diseases or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or applicable military experience
