About This Role

As a Level II Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting and repairing heavy-duty diesel engines, equipment, and related systems, focusing on trucks and trailers. This role ensures vehicle and equipment safety and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements and system inspections
  • Perform Federal Inspections and repair issues found during inspection
  • Perform brake inspections, adjustments and replacements
  • Inspect and change tires as necessary
  • Interpret and follow technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams for accurate repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work using maintenance management system
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications
  • Address any deficiencies or discrepancies promptly, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and vehicle/equipment safety
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly calibrated
  • Communicate effectively with managers and Lead mechanic, providing detailed explanations of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services
  • Offer recommendations for future preventative maintenance or repairs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Manages time effectively
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years in diesel mechanics
  • Maintenance certifications in relevant areas
  • Basic understanding of using diagnostic software, mechanical tools and specialized equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various environmental conditions, and stand for extended periods

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, technical training in diesel mechanics or related field is preferred
  • 3+ years in diesel mechanics

Nice to Have

  • Technical training in diesel mechanics or related field
  • Additional certifications for specific vehicle types or systems
