As a Level II Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting and repairing heavy-duty diesel engines, equipment, and related systems, focusing on trucks and trailers. This role ensures vehicle and equipment safety and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements and system inspections
- Perform Federal Inspections and repair issues found during inspection
- Perform brake inspections, adjustments and replacements
- Inspect and change tires as necessary
- Interpret and follow technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams for accurate repairs and maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work using maintenance management system
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications
- Address any deficiencies or discrepancies promptly, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and vehicle/equipment safety
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly calibrated
- Communicate effectively with managers and Lead mechanic, providing detailed explanations of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services
- Offer recommendations for future preventative maintenance or repairs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
Requirements
- Manages time effectively
- Valid driver’s license
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years in diesel mechanics
- Maintenance certifications in relevant areas
- Basic understanding of using diagnostic software, mechanical tools and specialized equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various environmental conditions, and stand for extended periods
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, technical training in diesel mechanics or related field is preferred
- 3+ years in diesel mechanics
Nice to Have
- Technical training in diesel mechanics or related field
- Additional certifications for specific vehicle types or systems
