Maintain, diagnose, and repair HVAC/R systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities for Hussmann, a global leader in commercial refrigeration equipment. This role focuses on advanced electrical and mechanical repairs, EMS programming, and troubleshooting, while also mentoring other technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform prescribed, routine maintenance procedures on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers
- Partner with other technicians for start-up of new refrigeration equipment
- Resolve customer warranty issues rapidly and accurately
- Serve as a mentor to other technicians and teach classes on HVAC/R processes, diagnostics, and parts
- Match customer needs with potential sales opportunities and assist in providing material and labor estimates
- Complete necessary documents (work tickets and timesheets) and electronic communication accurately and timely
- Manage truck inventory, order, receive, bill out and maintain parts responsibly
- Demonstrate working knowledge of all advanced electrical and mechanical repairs, HVAC maintenance, EMS programming, and complex schematic diagrams
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment on more complex service calls
- Perform system refrigerant and oil conversions
Requirements
- Physically able to walk distances, bench and crouch, climb ladders, work at high elevations and lift/carry objects up to fifty pounds
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and highly motivated
- Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge of basic maintenance tasks and use of hand tools
- Able to work nights and/or weekends as required
- Working knowledge of basic refrigeration and/or knowledge of commercial refrigeration and HVAC is preferred
- Strong leadership and business acumen
- Superior decision-making ability and paperwork skills
- Able to correctly teach HVAC/R processes, diagnostics, and parts
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 10 years in the field or 7 years with HVAC-R Technical School Certification or 7 years of internal experience with OJT & Skills Assessment
