Operate and manage heat treatment processes for manufactured parts, ensuring products meet specific written specifications. This role involves preparing furnace loads, monitoring equipment, and performing quality inspections on metal parts.
Responsibilities
- Receive and schedule incoming product for heat treatment
- Build and map loads for furnace processing
- Process and test completed loads
- Break down loads after processing
- Adjust and monitor furnace equipment controls
- Transfer furnace loads into and out of thermal processing equipment
- Record and document the processing of materials/parts through the heat treating department
- Inspect metal parts for hardness and other specifications
- Report equipment malfunctions and repairs needed to the appropriate authority
- Operate scale removal/surface finishing equipment to finalize surface finish upon completion of the heat treatment process
- Repack heat treated parts for further processing
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Current full valid driver's license
- Ability to meet driving record requirements for company vehicle use
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Demonstrate strong math aptitude
- Attention to detail and sense of urgency
- Strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
- Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs
- Ability to pass the required drug screen
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge or experience of heat treating and induction heating equipment
- Prior forklift or material handling equipment experience
