Manual MIG Welder

About This Role

Operate a manual MIG welder to produce welded parts in conformance with standard operating procedures and check part dimensions for quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual MIG welder to produce welded parts in conformance with operation procedures
• Check part dimensions to determine conformance to standard
• Perform all weld operations in conformance with Martinrea procedures
• Adjust welder parameters and gas flow according to part specifications
• Assure that BOS sheet matches part being manufactured
• Check to make sure all guards are in place and fixtures are clean
• Compare first and last piece with gage requirements and boundary samples to determine conformance with standard
• Produce and pack parts according to the BOS instructions, packing instructions, and/or standard work instructions
• Perform gage checks and SPC checks as required by part specific requirements
• Record all data required on BOS sheet in prescribed manner
• Immediately report nonconforming test results to responsible Weld Assembly Supervisor

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of manual welding experience/training
• Must pass required manual and written MIG weld qualification test
• Excellent communication skills
• Good knowledge of the English language
• Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1-3 years of manual welding experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
