The Maintenance/Engineering Manager leads a team responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and utility support of production equipment. This role focuses on troubleshooting complex systems, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities to enhance equipment uptime, efficiency, and throughput. The manager also ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop direct reports
- Oversee scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance to minimize downtime
- Manage and report site metrics related to equipment and utilities
- Provide technical expertise and hands-on machine intervention and project support
- Evaluate work in progress and resolve production, quality, equipment, and other issues
- Write, review, and approve Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
- Lead and assist with investigations into anomalies
- Develop equipment service and project timelines and manage work to meet established schedules
- Solicit and evaluate proposals from equipment vendors
- Work with stakeholders to maintain an equipment reliability program
- Investigate equipment performance and determine solutions
- Support the qualification of new and modified equipment
- Troubleshoot machine controls, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Complete training requirements and maintain compliance with all assignments
- Maintain work areas and perform job functions safely and efficiently
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years relevant progressive experience in mechanical maintenance and/or applied engineering
- 3+ years supervisory/management experience
- Experience with and understanding of equipment controls
- Troubleshooting machine systems experience
- Experience with installation and ongoing support of production equipment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 7 years relevant progressive experience in mechanical maintenance and/or applied engineering, with a minimum of 3 years’ supervisory/management experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a manufacturing environment within pharmaceutical, medical device or nutraceutical industries
- Computer proficiency with MS Office, EAM, SAP, Oracle, TrackWise
- Project management skills
