Manage electrical engineering projects, repairs, and preventative maintenance within an assigned region for a leading construction aggregates producer. Oversee internal and external electrical engineers, coordinating projects, and mentoring junior staff to ensure adherence to safe practices and optimal electrical systems performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide Electrical Engineering and Project Management oversight for electrical engineering projects, repairs, and preventative maintenance
- Manage internal and external electrical engineers in planning and design of electrical and automation systems
- Manage coordination of projects with regional electrical and operational staff and vendors
- Manage junior EE's in prioritizing work during equipment outages
- Assess needs and internal resources, coordinating use of outside contractors as necessary
- Evaluate project deliverables, timelines, and closeout to increase efficiency, quality, and volume
- Mentor/instruct regional electrical staff and junior EE's on safe and best practices in electrical systems
- Create and provide training for Regional Electrical Staff and EE's to improve troubleshooting skills and construction methods
- Review and develop reports to show effectiveness of electrical engineering, power savings, or other metrics
- Enforce safe operating standards, continually improving practices
- Manage and improve current methods for tracking documentation, project work
- Provide electrical cost estimates for proposed new facilities and plant modifications
- Provide complete distribution/control design for aggregate, asphalt, and ready-mix facilities
- Provide project management activities on projects working with internal personnel and outside contractors
- Participate in review of capital and expense projects pertaining to design correctness, feasibility, and cost
- Participate in standardization of projects and databases for engineering and estimating information
- Maintain awareness of technology trends in the electrical and instrumentation industry
- Analyze future plant control systems and apply new technology and original innovation
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of electrical experience in aggregate or related industry
- Experience in the management of Safety, Health, and Environment
- Knowledge of current methods, best practices, and code standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NEMA
- Strong skills using Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of mine production techniques and equipment, safety and environmental regulations (MSHA and OSHA)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and manage effectively
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering desired, but not required
- Minimum 10-15 years of electrical experience in the aggregate or related industry
Nice to Have
- Previous management of direct reports
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional engineering license
- Experience with using AutoCAD
