Maintenance Tech I

About This Role

The Maintenance Tech I is primarily responsible for the general repair and physical maintenance of apartment complex buildings, systems, and fixtures. This role involves performing electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and appliance repairs, while ensuring property safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the physical upkeep and repair of building exteriors, interiors, systems, and fixtures
• Perform minor electrical repairs on switches, receptacles, fixtures, and high voltage problems
• Conduct minor carpentry and sheetrock repairs, including patching holes, repairing subfloors, and cabinets
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct minor appliance failures
• Monitor inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and facilitate accurate replacement orders
• Perform necessary repairs and make-ready maintenance on vacant units
• Implement a routine preventive maintenance schedule on all systems
• Continuously inspect the property for safety hazards and correct or report issues
• Complete resident work orders and service requests

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED equivalency
• Appropriate EPA certification
• Minimum three years’ work experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair
• Thorough knowledge of equipment, machinery, and building systems (including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing)
• Ability to perform minor repair work on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Minimum three years experience in supervising a maintenance team
• Knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of various hand tools
• Dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, smartphone, and proof of auto insurance

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalency.
• Minimum three years’ work experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair or similar function. Minimum three years experience in supervising a maintenance team.
