About This Role

This role involves performing complex building maintenance and construction work, ensuring the daily operations and repair of Stephen F. Austin State Park.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex building maintenance and construction work
  • Perform all phases of maintenance, cleaning, and repairs to facilities, grounds and equipment
  • Operate and maintain all types of equipment including hand and power tools, mowers and tractors
  • Perform administrative and customer service duties including purchasing supplies, preparing reports and providing visitor services
  • Assist with patrolling park for the enforcement of park rules and regulations
  • Coordinate the work of hourly and volunteer workers
  • Serve as the Back-up Utility Plant Operator (UPO) and assist in the operation, maintenance and repair of the water utility system

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or GED
  • Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience
  • Valid State driver’s license
  • Possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class "D" Water and class D Wastewater license issued by the TCEQ
  • Possess or be able to obtain, within three years of employment, a class "C" Water and class C Wastewater license issued by the TCEQ

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience. Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.

Nice to Have

  • Three years of general maintenance experience in areas such as repairing buildings, equipment, plumbing, or electrical systems
  • Grounds maintenance experience in areas such as operating lawn mowers, tractors, trucks, power or hand tools
  • Experience working with water or wastewater systems
  • Experience working with the public
