Machine Operator - Extrusion

About This Role

Operate and monitor extrusion machinery, ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and adherence to health and safety standards during the second shift.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor machine settings for various production tasks
• Ensure proper machine function and methods according to production needs
• Read work orders, pull and thread webs during machine startup
• Troubleshoot issues on extruder machines, separator, or winder
• Remove finished products, scrap, and unused supplies from manufacturing area
• Inspect finished product skids for proper labels, date codes, and special ticketing
• Transport cartons, cores, concentrates, resins, and other supplies to work areas
• Maintain filters on resin pumping system to ensure material flow
• Report dangerous situations to the production supervisor
• Comply with Health and Safety policies and programs, including proper PPE usage
• Ensure full compliance with the quality system for the operation
• Regularly clean machines according to sanitation requirements
• Monitor and record roll weights of finished product at hourly intervals
• Perform spot inspections of finished product and record results
• Promote compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP)

Requirements

• Ability to coordinate and monitor machine settings
• Proficient in troubleshooting extruder machines, separator, or winder
• Knowledge of proper labeling and date coding for finished products
• Capable of maintaining resin pumping system filters
• Adherence to Health and Safety policies and wearing proper PPE (safety glasses, shoes, noise reduction earplugs)
• Compliance with quality system and sanitation requirements
• Ability to monitor and record production data such as roll weights and inspection results
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
