The Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences at Clemson University is seeking a Lecturer in Nutrition to teach undergraduate courses and provide academic advising to students within the department. This position involves full-time teaching and advising responsibilities for a 9-month non-tenure track appointment.
Responsibilities
- Teach six to seven, 3-credit courses per academic year in Nutrition
- Advise undergraduate students each semester
- Teach undergraduate nutrition classes that fulfill departmental needs and are within the candidate's expertise area
- Interact collegially and collaborate with faculty working in nutrition, food science, and packaging science
- Provide academic advising to students
- Teach NUTR 2030 Introduction to the Principles of Human Nutrition
- Teach NUTR 2040 Nutrition Across the Life Cycle
- Teach NUTR 3020/3021 Nutrition Assessment and Nutrition Assessment Labs
- Teach NUTR 4270 Nutrition Counseling
Requirements
- Background in human nutrition or related field
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Ability to work in teams
- Ability to solve problems
- Demonstrated skills in electronic/information technology
Qualifications
- Doctorate or Master’s degree in the teaching discipline (nutrition or related field) or a Master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline)
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience, university level teaching experience, and experience with distance education
Nice to Have
- Formal education and/or teaching experience in Nutrition Counseling, Nutrition for Nursing (includes some MNT content), Life Cycle Nutrition, and Introduction to Nutrition
- Proven effectiveness in university teaching
Certifications
Registered Dietitian credentials
