This Lead Residential Counselor position involves providing direct service and support to adults with mental health conditions in a residential setting, helping them prepare for independent living. The role also includes administrative duties, liaising with families, and supporting individuals in accessing medical and psychiatric care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct service to adults with mental health conditions in a residential setting
- Help persons served overcome barriers to and prepare for independent living
- Implement Treatment Plan support interventions as coached by Team LPHA Clinician
- Assume administrative officer roles to support the Program Director
- Liaison with families as needed
- Support persons served in obtaining and understanding medical and psychiatric care
- Administer medications following Medication Administration Program (MAP) policies
- Provide crisis interventions when needed
- Ensure a safe, comfortable, and clean environment through physical site maintenance
- Assist the Program Director in orienting new persons served to the residence
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Current, valid, US driver's license for at least 6 months
- Ability to pass a CORI, reference, multi-state background and driving record check
- Ability to become CPR, First Aid certified within 2 weeks of employment
- Ability to become MAP certified within 150 days of employment
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate's degree in a human service discipline preferred.
- Entry level, one year as a residential counselor in a setting working with persons facing mental health challenges preferred, one to two years of job-specific experience in human services preferred.
