Lead DevOps Engineer

About This Role

Architect, implement, and sustain a secure and scalable Modeling & Simulation (M&S) platform for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. This role involves leading platform development, ensuring reliable, high-performance systems in both cloud and on-premises environments, and collaborating with government and contractor teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust software systems utilizing C++, Python, AFSIM, web services, databases, and web applications to support simulation environments
• Architect, implement, and configure the Modeling & Simulation DevSecOps platform tailored for both cloud and on-premises deployment scenarios
• Apply DevSecOps tools and processes, including GitLab, SonarQube, Fortify, to automate build, security, and deployment pipelines
• Lead platform development efforts, including designing core platform services and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline deployment and management
• Design and maintain high-availability, high-reliability systems, ensuring optimal performance across distributed environments
• Provide engineering support during transition activities, effectively migrating or modernizing legacy systems to current standards
• Collaborate with government and contractor teams to ensure technical alignment with mission objectives and security requirements
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance platform capabilities and security posture

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience in software development using C++, Python, AFSIM, web services, databases, and web applications
• Proficiency with DevSecOps tools and practices, including GitLab, SonarQube, Fortify, and other CI/CD and security automation platforms
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
• Familiarity with RESTful architecture and cloud-native application deployment
• Strong background in platform development, including core services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementations
• Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain systems ensuring high reliability, availability, and performance in distributed environments
• Experience supporting transition engineering efforts within complex software environments, modernizing legacy systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in software development
