Respond to emergency medical and fire calls, providing on-scene medical intervention and fire suppression to preserve life and protect property. Maintain readiness of facilities, apparatus, and equipment while also engaging in non-emergency services like inspections and community education.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency medical calls, providing on-scene medical intervention using specialized protocols and equipment
- Respond to emergency fire and first aid calls, using specialized equipment to suppress and extinguish fires and perform rescue operations
- Maintain continual availability and readiness of facilities, apparatus, equipment, and supplies
- Perform non-emergency services including inspections, investigations, equipment testing, and recordkeeping
- Maintain and upgrade personal skills and knowledge through internal and external instruction and training programs
- Activate emergency medical and fire communications, equipment, apparatus, and emergency call response procedures
- Drive emergency vehicles, ambulances, apparatus, and boats, and operate emergency communications devices
- Operate and apply emergency medical protocols, suppression, medical first aid, and rescue equipment
- Write and prepare detailed reports and take follow-up actions on emergency calls
- Perform routine maintenance work on facilities, apparatus, and equipment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Nationally registered paramedic certification
- Completion of one full year of full time paid uniformed experience for lateral entry
- IFSAC or Pro Board FF1 & HazMat OPS
- Valid Washington State driver's license
- Successful completion of Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention training
- State of Washington certification and continued maintenance for Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention
- Certification as a State of Washington Emergency Medical Service Paramedic and its continued maintenance
- Current vaccinations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One full year of full time paid uniformed experience with successful completion of agency's training program for lateral entry
