Kafka Messaging Engineer

About This Role

Lead application development and maintenance for complex software requirements, focusing on end-to-end architecture involving DB2, IBM IIDR, Kafka, and SingleStore. Ensure software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements while guiding other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Understand the complete end-to-end architecture involving DB2, IBM IIDR, Kafka and SingleStore
• Understand the operating production environments and configurations
• Operate as a technical/team lead guiding engineers in application support work
• Ensure that software is meeting functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements
• Write code, perform configuration, and unit testing; ensure solutions are integrated successfully
• Contribute to story refinement/defining requirements
• Participate and guide team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement
• Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
• Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per defined acceptance criteria
• Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development
• Assist team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work
• Contribute to existing test suites, analyze test reports, identify test issues, and triage the underlying cause
• Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality
• Participate, contribute, and coach team members in delivery/release (CI-CD) events

Requirements

• 10+ years Industry Experience
• Seasoned Kafka Development Lead with hands-on experience working on Kafka cluster
• Experience writing Kafka producer/consumer code
• Knowledge about Kafka multi-region stretch cluster and optimal cluster configuration
• Knowledge of distributed Kafka connect clusters and developing Kafka connectors with understanding of performance configuration
• Experience with Data Replication Technologies and familiarity with Change Data Capture Products
• Working experience with any of RDBMS such as MemSQL, Oracle and DB2
• Experience with Store Procedures, SQLs
• Experience with JDBC Code development protocol
• Java knowledge to write code using eclipse or IntelliJ tools
• Understanding of Java coding standards and deployment process
• USC or GC candidates only

Qualifications

• 10+ years Industry Experience; Seasoned Kafka Development Lead with hands-on experience working on Kafka cluster

Nice to Have

• Experience with Agile development and tool set like Jira
• Knowledge of Splunk and Dynatrace tool usage on logging and monitoring
• Querying Splunk logs and dashboard creation for analysis
• Linux/Unix usage with python or shell scripts knowledge for automation
• Extensive experience with Data replication products like IBM IIDR
