About This Role

Inspect and verify complex machine parts and assemblies, ensuring conformance to drawings and specifications by utilizing hand tools, measuring instruments, and CMM equipment. This role supports day-to-day inspection duties and may take on additional assignments for production and development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day inspection duties as assigned
  • Inspect complex machine parts and assemblies using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Interpret 2-D drawings and measure parts using CMM or measuring instruments with 3-D models
  • Potentially take on additional assignments with increased scope and difficulty to support sustaining production and/or new development projects

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
  • Basic ability in reading blueprints and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Familiar with processing and handling of nonconforming material
  • Familiar with first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements
  • Familiar with AS9100/ISO9001 or other quality management systems
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift 35 lbs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree
  • 8 years of prior relevant experience with High School Diploma or 4 years with Associates Degree performing inspection of product for workmanship, dimensions and overall conformance to applicable dwgs/specs.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with industry specs/standards as it relates to materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., ASTM, ASE, MIL specs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of lean/six sigma and other industry best practices
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Experience interfacing with customers and facilitating source inspections
  • Experience in performing process audits, compiling reports and recommending remedial actions
  • Familiarity with paint, fiberglass, composite and machining processes
  • Desire to learn how to perform heavy mechanical inspection which encompasses the use of coordinate measurement equipment (CMM, Faro arm, etc.), performing tooling/gauging verification, and using other complex measurement techniques and methods
  • Working knowledge of basic shop math, basic algebra, geometry and trig at the intermediate level
  • Basic statistics, SPC knowledge (such as: control charts objectives, variable charts, attribute charts control limits, spec limits, process capability)
  • Knowledge and capability of applying techniques required to determine the acceptability of complex assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, operations sheets, sketches and procedures
  • GD&T interpretation
  • Familiar with standards and shop practices
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
