This Inspector 2 role performs machine shop and receiving inspection tasks under supervision, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications for a leading machine tool builder. The position requires relocation to Henderson, NV by March 2027.
Responsibilities
- Follow instructions for inspection procedures
- Translate dimensions from blueprints using shop math
- Operate inspection equipment with high confidence
- Communicate findings verbally, via email, and through database applications
- Use basic inspection equipment (micrometer, calipers, test indicators, surface plate)
- Utilize a Surface Roughness Tester (profilometer) and Hardness Tester
- Inspect for common geometric features (roundness, concentricity, flatness, runout, perpendicularity and parallelism)
- Read and interpret rejection documentation (rejection tags, purge and hold forms, RGRs, RMAs)
- Enter data into the inspection database
- Set up inspection gage equipment (bore gages, thread micrometers)
- Coordinate and manage calibration purchase orders, ensuring tools flow in and out on schedule and records are accurate
- Use a Profile Projector (Comparator)
- Inspect any dimension applicable to surface plate and hand tool inspection
- Obtain correct information from MRP application for MRB transactions (inventory control of rejected items)
- Keep work area and equipment carts organized and clean
- Maintain SAP transactions, resolving notifications and requests promptly
- Meet productivity goals related to department workload
- Observe company safety standards and report any damage to a supervisor or manager
- Follow instructions, procedures, and escalate issues impacting workflow or quality
- Exhibit honesty, integrity, and adherence to rules, procedures, and policies
- Operate powered and non-powered material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jack, cranes, and mobile straddle stacker lift
Requirements
- Understanding of shop math, geometry, and related trigonometry for 90 degree triangular calculations
- Knowledge concerning the proper inspection tool selection
- Ability to obtain and maintain a license for the safe operation of a Haas fork truck
- Working knowledge of ESD protection / handling requirements
- Ability to read and correctly interpret blueprints, procedures, and work instructions
- Demonstrates cleanliness requirements for inspection equipment and parts
- Working knowledge of electronic component identification, units of measure, and common testing methods for component compliance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) credential such as general education degree (GED), plus an additional one to three months related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
