Provide a safe and nurturing environment for infants and toddlers that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and partner with families in reflective planning.
Responsibilities
- Provide experiences that build on children’s prior experiences by drawing on their curiosity and encouraging independent questions, theories, and hypotheses
- Encourage and model appropriate behavior and expectations, utilizing positive discipline techniques
- Collaborate with the Director EHS-CCP Site and Infant Toddler Specialist to design and implement a reflective curriculum, materials, activities, and environments
- Observe, document, and gather data on each child’s health, behavior, growth, and development, using observations to plan and respond to individual needs
- Acknowledge and respond to all parents and visitors in a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor, maintaining daily communication and conducting home visits
- Use data and share with families to individualize instruction, engaging parents in ongoing communication about developmental screenings and assessments
- Lead the teaching team in developing classroom goals and action plans, ensuring daily responsibilities are completed and shared
- Supervise children, following all safety and health rules, and keeping the environment safe, organized, and accessible
- Keep abreast of the latest trends and research in early childhood, demonstrating knowledge and flexibility in childcare practices
- Establish and maintain a relationship of cooperation, respect, and confidentiality within the team and during classroom/Center events
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 45 DCF hours
- 15 in-service hours per year
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and 45 DCF hours, 15 in-service hours per year. CDA with a focus on Infant/Toddler or to complete it during the first year of employment.
