HVAC Service Technician

About This Role

Serve as an HVAC Service Technician responsible for diagnosing, resolving, and repairing HVAC systems in residential and light commercial settings, while also training junior technicians and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Inform superintendents/supervisors of job progress and issues.
• Respond to emergencies and complex service calls, including driving to customer sites.
• Greet customers, troubleshoot, and diagnose/resolve problems with HVAC systems.
• Describe options and costs, obtain approval, and make repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Repair complete HVAC systems.
• Check condensation drain lines to ensure freedom of debris and proper drainage.
• Document services, explain guarantees/warranties, and collect/record and deliver fees to the office.
• Ensure all repairs and installations are accurate, serviceable, and meet safety and regulatory standards and codes.
• Order materials for jobs.
• Promote service agreements and offer assistance with financing of service costs.
• Train less-experienced technicians and act as crew leader.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 3+ years of electrical/HVAC service training, or completion of an approved training program
• EPA certification
• Advanced knowledge of electrical and gas diagnostics and air flow
• Current driver’s license
• Strong communications/interpersonal skills
• Ability to regularly move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends
